Zen of Slow Cooking

A hibiscus spiked honey syrup is a great addition to holiday drinks.


  • 4 cups honey
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1⁄2 cup dried hibiscus leaves
  • 1 Mulling Spice sachet


  1. Stovetop: 1) Combine honey, warm water and hibiscus leaves in a saucepan stirring to dissolve the honey. 2) Add Mulling Spice sachet and cook over low heat for 15 minutes. 3) Remove from the heat and leave the spice bag to steep for as long as the syrup takes to cool. 4) Discard the spice bag and pour syrup into a jar or bottle.


Use as the basis for a Hibiscus Cocktail or Shrub Punch.
